The Year I Was Six

The year I was six, I received a baby doll. Nothing earth shattering about a little girl with a doll, but when that doll is snatched away, earth shattering is exactly what it is. I was proud of my baby; attached in a serious way. While only rubber, she was real to me. Can you remember the Velveteen Rabbit? My sister even crocheted a poncho for her. (It was the 70's, so go with the flow of my story.)

On "Show and Tell" day, I proudly shared my baby doll.

I don't remember what I said or if anyone cared one lick about my presentation. However, with resounding clarity, I remember my teacher taking her. As an adult, I can guess that she presented a distraction during our time of learning. She told me she would give "IT" back after school.

The day dragged on and then the bell rang. Freedom, and time for me to recoup my loss, but she didn't give her back!! I went home traumatized and in tears; completely devastated. Calmly, my mother called the school and my father went to retrieve my prize possession. All was well!!

Did my parents feel the same attachment I felt for my baby doll? I'm thinking they did not feel the least bit attached to her. But to me, that's completely different. I was their baby and what mattered to me, mattered to them.

God does this for us. We matter!  Our wants and needs , our little tiny likes and dislikes are of actual importance to Him. We are His children. Don't get so caught up in the big picture that you miss the details. Understand and expect God's attention...100%  eyes on you!! Everyday loving you, delighting in your company; enjoying your sense of humor and being willing and able to deliver on every promise.

Depend upon Him, He will never falter.

Fall Has Arrived

Fall has arrived. A new season has begun!
Let's think of what that means for us.

  Old things are falling away.

We can fall securely into God's Arms.

Everything for our lives, by the touch of
God's hand, is falling into place.

Struggles, Differences, Importance, Diminish

If two people are struggling with paramount differences,
it is possible that if each party makes it a priority
to move toward the heart of God, change will follow.

I suggest that your differences may not change,
but the importance you place on them may diminish.

Blue Pen

Blue Pen
Rubber Grip
Scrunchie Spring
Flowing Midnight
Colored Ink

Finger Thumping Temple
Pen Tapping Chin
Words to come
Smooth and Flowing
Carefully, I think.

Words, Words, Words
They are powerful things.
Take care to always be fair. Ponder every letter, each syllable and turn of phrase.
You are responsible to your reader, each one, no matter their age.
The process to create your expressions into its final viewing stage.
May we always use our hearts and our heads to first think each time we apply the ink.

Give It A Rest

Take a pause, you certainly have cause.
You act like you require permission.
Look at you in such a worn down condition.
Rest your head, your feet, and your thoughts.
Trust more, worry less.
Give it to God; He knows the answer.
You don't have to struggle.
You don't have to guess.

He's telling you to be at rest, you are blessed.
The struggle is over.....
The fight can be considered an excellent test of your character.
Just now, I am telling you......Finally, give it a rest!!

The View In The Rear View Mirror

Several springs ago, I went out to be a part of the beauty and splendor. It went something like this:

The last few days the weather has been beyond desirable. Warm sun, cool breeze, bright blue sky, and to put the cherry on top, the evidence of spring catches your eye from every corner.

My trusty, furry friend, Emma and I took a walk one day. We had been adjusting to our routine in a new neighborhood with unknown places to walk and explore. From Emma's perspective, the new things to sniff caused her nub of a tail to wag continuously.

We walked together in comfy companionship, enjoying every sight, sound, and smell. Soon,we were met with a hill that began to feel a bit like a mountain. I dared to look back and to my surprise, we had traveled a good distance. We had a ways to go to reach the top, but it encouraged my heart to see the strides we had made. The view was quite lovely and a thought began to form as we continued up the hill.

Looking back in life's rear view mirror is usually not suggested or encouraged in any way. We all remember Lot's wife and no one wants that experience. Living with regret or talking yourself into believing it was all so much better the way things once were, is never a good idea.

What about an assessment of how far we have come from the place we started? Look back and see the height you have reached in your ability to be a loving and supportive spouse, or an encouraging and effective parent, a valued employee or boss, the way you play the piano, or react to a frustrating situation....it is all progress.

We are doing these things one step, one day, one tiny moment at a time and it helps to pause and realize how far you've come. Let the progress urge you forward to reach greater heights. If you get tired along the way, stretch out your hand and open your heart; God will grab your hand and pull you further than your imagination alone could ever carry you.
